5 Cool Things We Love about the 7th Hero MTB Shimla Race
The race is just around the corner and we just can’t stop obsessing over it…. And here is why!!
1. Builds Resilience
In Hindi we call it… “Lage Raho”. Which is hard to do on a mountain bike when you have to cover up to 100 km in a day. Uphill. On a dirt track. Not everyone can keep at it, and not everyone would even try. But hey, there wouldn’t be any glory if this race was easy, would there?
2. Do It For Your Country
The MTB Himalaya brought in 92 riders from 20 countries last year. A spotlight was shown on this spectacularly rugged corner of our country that brings in the tourism money and all the great development benefit that comes with it. And opens up tiny goatherd villages to the rest of the world.
3. Applauds Talent
You know that kid that can’t sit still? Was that you? Well, if so, HASTPA is looking for you. HASTPA (Himalayan Adventure Sport & Tourism Promotion Association) is encouraging young talent to take up mountain biking with school programmes and local knowledge sessions and races. They’ve found a few winners — keep an eye open for our upcoming #ToffeeChronicles on Akshit Gaur.
4. Team-Building
Who doesn’t love team building? In 2014, to be able to manage and train new talent, the Hero Action Team was formed. There’s also teams from Rocky Mountain, Kona Bikes, Airforce and Indian defence establishments like Indian Army, Indian Air Force, Indian Navy, SSB and ITBP participating each year.
5. Totally safe (Not!)
You’re talking tricky paths up and down the Himalayas here. In biker lingo, the race is physically demanding and technically challenging. In other words, you need to watch your back.
#ToffeeInsurance is proud to be the official insurance partner for MTB Himalaya — we love risk-taking cool adventure stuff. So for those grueling days of practice, we want to be there with you — to get you back on your bike, flying downhill with the wind in your face. Check out our #StayFitToffee.
Legit right?
Hope to see you at the race pal!
