What’s the number one thing that prevents people from getting started in cycling? Not knowing where to start! What cycling gear and bike accessories are necessary to safely and enjoyably navigate your roads or trails? How to assemble a complete inventory of all your needed bike gear and cycling accessories? Navigating through unfamiliar products, billions of recommendations, and foreign terminology? Don’t let this process consume any more of your time, because you could be out cycling instead!

Get straight to the point with these 5 Cycling accessories Amateurs MUST HAVE!

1.Hydration

Having a way to carry fluids with you while riding is very important. You should be hydrating throughout your ride, especially in heat and cold weather. A basic water bottle and holder or hydration pack will do the trick nicely. Hydration is huge and should be very high on your need to have bicycle accessories list.

2.Shoes

Stiff soles are the main feature of cycling shoes, usually with attachment points for cleats that clip into special pedals. They fit snugly, held in place with Velcro or ratchet straps or occasionally old-fashioned laces. Racing-style shoes have a cleat that stands proud of the sole and so are awkward to walk in. Shoes with recessed cleats, originally developed for mountain biking, are easier to walk in which makes them great for commuting, touring and more casual riding.

3.Padded Bike Shorts

A quality pair of riding shorts or bibs are huge for utmost comfort while riding your bike. The padding in the shorts helps to minimize compression of soft tissue and wards off soreness and chaffing on longer rides. You can choose from tight fitting shorts or the baggier styles that also allow you to carry items, like a cargo short. As far as bike clothing goes, a good pair of riding shorts should be a must have on your list.

4.Flat Repair Kit & Tools

Having a flat repair kit & the associated tools will allow you to change a flat tire and replace your bad tube. Combined with your pump or Co2 setup you will have all you’ll need to get rolling again.

5.Car Racks

Love travelling with your bike? How will you transport your bike? Jamming it into a trunk or back seat is terrible for your bike. Get yourself a quality bike rack for your car.
