The capital flaunts large park areas and forest cover, quite perfect for off-road cycling, but if you fancy sticking to the road we’ve got that covered too. We bring to you an inventory of popular bicycling trails in and around the city that you simply can try your hand {and feet} at.

  1. Rashtrapati Bhawan to India Gate
Rashtrapati Bhawan to India Gate

Stating the first, this is a majestic stretch. Rashtrapati Bhawan on one side, India Gate on the opposite side, and Rajpath running all the way―this may be a sight that fills you proudly, the fantastic Raisina hills will mesmerize you on one side here, and at the opposite end, you’ll be struck by the elegance of Rashtrapati Bhawan. Mornings at Rajpath are filled with cyclists, runners, children skating and other people playing sports. Take a bicycle journey through this route to explore the grandeur of the capital and make friends with other cyclists on the way.

Best time to cycle: Early morning makes it the perfect spot to witness the sunrise. Evenings lights will make you awe-stuck.

Approx distance: 2.7 Km

2. Sanjay Van

Sanjay Van

This forest area within the heart of Delhi may be a dream come true for any fitness enthusiast. There is a gravel track running inside the forest which is great for cycling. The forest features a few Machans (watchtowers) that offer you a superb view of the encompassing area.

Best time to cycle: Early morning and early evenings–a perfect time to identify animals also.

Approx distance: 4 Km

3. Najafgarh Wetlands

Najafgarh Wetlands

This road is on the outskirts of Delhi and connects Dwarka to Haryana. The trail runs along the Najafgarh drain. Thanks to its location, traffic is sparse on this stretch and therefore the area is lush green. It is the right cycling route as you’ll hear birds chirping along the way. There’s no better way to kickstart your morning.

Best time to cycle: Early morning makes it the perfect spot to witness the sunrise.

Approx distance: 30 Km

4. Asola Bhardwaj Lake

Asola Bhardwaj Lake

There are around seven lakes in the vicinity and, trust us ―each one is better than the other! The rocky off-road gravel track is ideal for cyclists who enjoy off-road or single track cycling. The uphill and downhill sections combined with rocky areas are just perfect for all-terrain bike riders.

For all those that love a tremendous and adventurous off-road experience, the Asola cycling route is that the best. But take care because the route is extremely rocky and features a lot of up and downhill regions. Don’t forget to pack up your puncture kit!

Best time to cycle: Morning rides are the best.

Approx distance: 15 Km

5. Aravali Biodiversity Park

Aravali Biodiversity Park

This is an exquisite green haven in an otherwise jungle. The downhill sections inside the park are often quite intimidating for a beginner, but once you get the hang of it, you’ll thoroughly enjoy the undulating path inside the Aravali Bio-diversity Park.

Best time to cycle: during the day–the greenery and therefore the location make it a well-liked spot all day long.

Approx distance: 4 Km
